What is Cold Porcelain?

At every show people stop to admire my cold porcelain flowers and ask me: “Are these real?” It is not after touching them that they realize that they are not! My answer: my passion is to achieve realism with cold porcelain.

But what is cold porcelain?
Called Cold Porcelain mainly because the compounds don’t require being heated or baked like traditional porcelain as it air-dries. Its characteristics provide a smooth and extremely malleable texture that can be sculpted into any shape you can imagine and then air-dried; allowing artists to design and replicate nature with amazing lifelike detail.
Other great advantages of Cold Porcelain are that it is very durable, light-weight, and it can be colored, texturized and easily combined with many kinds of materials, therefore achieving realistic and beautiful details with smooth finishes like no other clay.
Cold Porcelain enables fine art that with the right care can last a lifetime.
What does cold porcelain mean to me?

My passion! It all started several years ago in Bolivia, where I am from and where for the past few decades this art has evolved into precise methods that taught me from how to prepare my own Cold Porcelain clay to mastering many different techniques of working with it.
I fell in love with Cold Porcelain and the art of replicating flowers at my first training class, since then I have not stopped creating lifelike floral arrangements and learning new techniques that take full advantage of the versatility that Cold Porcelain clay allows.
It is through this art of modeling and uniqueness of Cold Porcelain that I can fully express my passion and admiration for nature.

Thanks Des Moines!

Shows, shows, and more shows!! The last week of September I attended the Largest Arts and Crafts Show in Des Moines. It was three amazing days where thousands of art lovers gathered at the Fairgrounds to admire and shop from more than 300 hundred exhibitors.
It was my first time attending this event and I truly enjoyed exhibiting my art creations. This experience gave me the opportunity to meet amazing artists as well as meeting and interacting with great people interested in learning more about Cold Porcelain Art and the different techniques that I use in my creations.
Here are some pictures:

In a couple of weeks I will be finishing an order of wedding favors that are both cute and very unique! Stay tuned for the pictures and yes... more shows!

A milestone for Cold Porcelain Art

I know that I have been absent from my blog for the past month, but I have been working on great things (of course, my orders) for Cold Porcelain Art.

Well, let me start:
As many of you know I opened my Etsy Shop, where currently you can purchase great flower gifts for any special occasion. Currently there is 7 flower arrangements to choose from and more to come. Here are the ones that had been featured on Etsylush (It’s a website that promotes the best of Etsy.com):

Another important step for Cold Porcelain Art is that now a mobile version site is available. Yeah! Thanks so much to my hubby who built a great site, helping my customers access my shop from their phones and ipads. Since it went live just a couple of weeks ago the traffic has been a success! I knew that a mobile site is pretty much a must nowadays, what I did not know is that there are so many brides-to-be (and wedding planers :D) on the go.
And the last one is that I am preparing for my next Bridal Show, so stay tuned for the event details…

Back from Vacation!

I’m back!  We went to Florida for a big family reunion and we stopped at Disney to say hi to Mickey…we had a blast!
We planned this trip since last December and everything went perfect! And how not? Florida has great places, attractions and beaches…all in one!
It was a nice deserved vacation! Lately I’ve being really busy with special orders and my last one shipped one day before going on vacation! One of my biggest orders was this colorful cake topper (picture below) took me almost two months between planning, designing and making it. The bride asked for a colorful arrangement of roses, her favorite flower.

The cake topper, an arrangement of pink, yellow and orange roses, decorated a 5 tier wedding cake. The Bride had a fresh flower bouquet with the same colors. I really enjoyed making these roses!

Unique Table Décor for any occasion!

When deciding on the tables’ décor, brides have a wide variety of options for centerpieces, from big flowers arrangements to romantic candles or unique lights. But if you are looking for something out of the ordinary napkin holders are a unique idea to add a touch of elegance to a table décor not just for weddings but for any especial occasion.
I created some designs with different flowers, and my client decided for the roses, very romantic.

Stay tune for my next order, it is a colorful cake topper, a design that I have been working for the last two months.

Replica of a Bouquet

This morning I finished an order of a bouquet and boutonnieres for a dear friend. She asked me for a replica of her bouquet.

The theme was a very exotic yet clean and elegant and what a better flower than a yellow calla lily.

The bouquet is very simple. A hand tied Calla Lilies with stunning colors between yellows and oranges accompanied with green leaves making it very delicate.

She also ordered a single white calla lily Boutonnieres.

Thanks for choosing Cold Porcelain Art for your wedding!

Yellows and Green...cheerful!

The past few weeks were very busy for me. One of my brides wanted yellows and greens in her wedding theme. Her bouquet was a combination of yellow roses and green hydrangeas. All the tables had stunning centerpieces with the same arrangement adding some joyfulness to the event.

The bride loved her Bouquet! She not only had a unique piece of art, but also a treasured souvenir of her wedding day.

And some of the centerpieces were offered by the newlyweds as favors to their guests. Beautiful keepsakes for a unique wedding!

My best wishes to the couple!

My Mom’s favorite flower: Magnolias

I grew up watching my Mom taking care of this beautiful magnolia tree we had in the backyard of our house. I remember her constantly cherishing its beauty and exquisite splendor. This is how my passion for flowers is born, this is where my journey beings.
Since Sunday is Mother’s Day I want to dedicate this post to my Mom, my inspiration. That’s why I chose her favorite flower which stands for nobility, perseverance and love for nature. Magnolia flowers also symbolize feminine sweetness and beauty. In addition, magnolia flowers reflect tenacity…all the virtues that define my Mom!
The magnolia flower inspires beauty and adds a unique touch of elegance to a wedding. With this in mind is that one of my most recent brides-to-be chose The Magnolia Collection (pictures below); she was delighted with the flowers and the colors, and I was extremely motivated creating these floral arrangements. The bouquet is a cascade of magnolias with ivy leaves which symbolize strong and lasting unification. The wedding cake topper consisted of three large magnolia flowers that took center stage accompanied by a smaller one.
Wishing all the Moms a Happy Mother’s Day!
And to you Mom: Thank you for planting this special seed in my heart that gave me the passion for this Art! Te amo mucho!
