I see big smiles on many of my students already and clients too! Yes, this is what many of you were waiting for and here it is!

I am so excited to present my own Cold Porcelain Art Clay!  Finally, after a long journey of finding and trying different ingredients for better preservation and long lasting paste, and the long hours put by my dear hubby in creating and designing the perfect labeling, packaging, etc. Cold Porcelain Art launches its own Clay!

As the history of my Cold Porcelain Art creations tell, it's all about perfection, detail and inspiration that brings a unique piece of art to life... and yes, the right clay. That is why my clay is prepared with the right ingredients that provides the smoothest and most malleable Cold Porcelain Art clay.

Keeping a Wedding Moment Alive and more...

What a busy months a had!!! I've been away too long but I'm back! Let me tell you what I've been doing...

I had a client who contacted me to create a replica of her bouquet. She had a destination wedding last year and wanted to keep her bouquet but because her flowers couldn't last enough to be preserved she had to thrown it away. (a heartbreaking moment!!)

So she asked me if I could recreate some of the flowers to be part of a shadowbox. After sending me some pictures of her beautiful bouquet I started making a replica of it, which consists of two tone red roses, orange roses, yellow calla lilies and some fillers as hypericum berries. The two tone roses were created using a new techniques to achieve this amazingly real look!

Besides some orders I had the opportunity to teach at one-week Art Camp. It was intense and amazing! I taught kids some cool projects at two workshops, one for Cold Porcelain and the other for Clay Workshop. Here are some pictures of their work:

 

 

 

 

I had a lot of fun looking at kids creating some amazing things!

 

Now, I am back to work again, making an orchid plant and some succulents. More pictures to come.

How Red?...Tulip Red!

Spring is here! And I cannot feel more inspired by just seing all the beautiful colors of the blooming flowers, feeling the spring breeze and enjoying a beautiful sunny and warm day! Spring is one of my favorite seasons! I think after a long and white winter you really appreciate more the colors of Spring.

So, last week while doing some shopping at the grocery store, some beautiful red tulips caught my attention. The color was so vivid that inspired me to create the same flower. Back home, I started dying my cold porcelain paste, and after various attempts (really various!) I achieved the same vivid red of the tulip I saw :) (hooray for me!). For the ones you are not familiarized on dying cold porcelain, there are some colors (like browns and reds) that are hard to achieve.
Also I made some white tulips with red hints. Here are the pictures of my cold porcelain tulips:

Did you know that tulips have different meanings like love, purity, innocence but also symbolize a new beginning? Tulips will add a lot of meaning to your wedding and if you are looking for a special gift, tulips will be a great way to express admiration and love.

Can I buy single flowers?

Of course!!!! This past week I've been working on a custom order for a very nice client. She asked me if she could buy single flowers. She needed two miniature hydrangeas and a single pink flower.

Knowing the dimensions and colors I can create almost anything :) So I started working on the 2 inches mini flowers. I made a white one and a pink one with yellow hints, they looked lovely!
Creating mini flowers take a lot of patience and detail, but the finished flower is a stunning piece of art!

These will look great in a small vase. Now the flowers are on her way! :)

Wedding Bouquets and Peony Cake Topper

A had a very exciting and productive week! I've been working on wedding bouquets and a cake topper for a wedding.
My cold porcelain flowers bouquets are a favorite among brides who love to keep their bouquet as a keepsake and I can not agree more! It will bring beautiful memories of her special day for life!! Another reason why brides choose cold porcelain bouquets is that brides love flowers that are off season or can not be found locally. With cold porcelain is easy to create any flower in any color, shape and size. Here are some of my cold porcelain bouquets:

The cake topper that I've been working on is a beautiful peony with dogwood flowers around it and cherry blossoms. This cake topper was a favorite for the brides-to-be at one of the Bridal Shows I participated. Well, one of the brides contacted me to recreate the same cake topper for her wedding this coming April. She requested the same size with extra peonies for side decorations.

 

After creating my bouquets and shipped the cake topper I uploaded new listings on my Etsy Store What a busy, busy week! And now, ready for Spring!!!

New Listing on Etsy: Succulents

Have you ever noticed how beautiful a Succulent is? Succulents are also called organic beauties and they are becoming more and more popular not only for weddings but also for decorations like centerpieces.
So recently I met a baker and she asked me to create some succulent flowers to decorate a cake she has planned to put on a window on her shop. So I stopped at my local floral store and saw a variety of them, but there was one in particular that stunned me! I came home and started to work on my first succulent flower. To be honest, the first one did not look like a succulent at all! So the second try came out better, working more on the edges and then finishing with a touch of color. Here are the pictures:

Bridal Show

I was so happy to be a part of The Everything Bridal Show this year, which was hosted at the Hy-Vee Conference Center in West Des Moines.  A successful event and great exposure for Cold Porcelain Art!

 

I was looking forward to this event so this year I had some new and colorful creations like this exotic orange cymbidium orchid with lily of the valley cake topper.

 

Others were more unique like place card holders which can add some romanticism to your table décor but also can be used as a wedding favor.

I had a great time, not only setting up appointments while hearing love stories but also helping with new ideas on how to choose a luxury option like cold porcelain flowers that will bring memories of an eternal love!

What a romantic day I had!!!

Cold Porcelain Art at the Emmys!

I am pleased to announce that Cold Porcelain Art, in association with The Artisan Group, will participate in a luxury celebrity gift lounge hosted by GBK Productions on September 21-22, 2012 at an exclusive location in Hollywood, California, in honor of The 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees and Presenters.

Going International!

This summer has been very busy and fun for me, orders for weddings are -by far- what I have been working on the most. But a few weeks ago something new and exciting came with an order request... and that was for the flowers to be shipped to Australia!!!

So YES, it is now official, Cold Porcelain Art is now international! J

You see, when I started this blog, my first posting titled “Blogging World… Here I come!” talked about how I never imagined being blogging. Well, after just over a year, and incorporating Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Etsy into the mix, you can probably understand why I consider this to be a milestone. Online “global reach” has a new and real meaning to me!

This client’s request was to create red and pink poppies, green hydrangeas, white gardenias and white dogwood flowers. I had so much fun creating them, specially the red/black contrast obtained with the poppies, definitely an eye catcher! Here is a picture of the red poppy and white gardenias.

New Listings on Etsy: Miniatures and Teapots

I just recently added new listings to my Etsy Shop with Miniatures and Teapots. One of my customers loved the flower arrangements teapots and asked me to make a mini arrangement for favors. So I create a set of miniatures for her party and later she order one teapot for a co-worker.

The vases are also unique, handcrafted and hand-painted by Bolivian artisans. Here are the pictures:

Orchids and more Orchids!

One of my clients contacted me to see if I could create a single green orchid to put on a place card for a 16th birthday party. So I created green cymbidium orchid with hints of pale light green in the center petals and with a pink color highlighting the edges. The throat has pink dots on sides’ scallops and lines on the middle scallop. She really liked so she ordered 6 more.  

 Another order I enjoyed creating was a cake topper a lady requested for a wedding. The cake topper flower arrangement consists of 2 white orchids with a magenta throat (with hints of pale light green).

This is the cake topper arrangement with white Stephanotis flowers painted with hints of yellow in the middle. My best wishes to the newlyweds!

My Latest Works!

These are my newest creations with one of my favorite flower: roses!

I was recently asked to make this centerpiece using this exquisite nacre vase. Looking at the beautiful colors of the nacre I decided to create white roses with a soft pink touch. It was a challenging creation because of the vase shape.

Also, this past month I created these roses centerpieces. In both of them, the flower arrangement is placed on a wood base, giving a touch of nature to my flowers.

And my spring inspiration creation is this cute daisies arrangement placed inside of an acrylic display box.

What is Cold Porcelain?

At every show people stop to admire my cold porcelain flowers and ask me: “Are these real?” It is not after touching them that they realize that they are not! My answer: my passion is to achieve realism with cold porcelain.

But what is cold porcelain?

Called Cold Porcelain mainly because the compounds don’t require being heated or baked like traditional porcelain as it air-dries. Its characteristics provide a smooth and extremely malleable texture that can be sculpted into any shape you can imagine and then air-dried; allowing artists to design and replicate nature with amazing lifelike detail.

Other great advantages of Cold Porcelain are that it is very durable, light-weight, and it can be colored, texturized and easily combined with many kinds of materials, therefore achieving realistic and beautiful details with smooth finishes like no other clay.

Cold Porcelain enables fine art that with the right care can last a lifetime.

What does cold porcelain mean to me?

My passion! It all started several years ago in Bolivia, where I am from and where for the past few decades this art has evolved into precise methods that taught me from how to prepare my own Cold Porcelain clay to mastering many different techniques of working with it.

I fell in love with Cold Porcelain and the art of replicating flowers at my first training class, since then I have not stopped creating lifelike floral arrangements and learning new techniques that take full advantage of the versatility that Cold Porcelain clay allows.

It is through this art of modeling and uniqueness of Cold Porcelain that I can fully express my passion and admiration for nature.

Shows, shows, and more shows!! The last week of September I attended the Largest Arts and Crafts Show in Des Moines. It was three amazing days where thousands of art lovers gathered at the Fairgrounds to admire and shop from more than 300 hundred exhibitors.

It was my first time attending this event and I truly enjoyed exhibiting my art creations. This experience gave me the opportunity to meet amazing artists as well as meeting and interacting with great people interested in learning more about Cold Porcelain Art and the different techniques that I use in my creations.

A milestone for Cold Porcelain Art

I know that I have been absent from my blog for the past month, but I have been working on great things (of course, my orders) for Cold Porcelain Art.

Well, let me start:

As many of you know I opened my Etsy Shop, where currently you can purchase great flower gifts for any special occasion. Currently there is 7 flower arrangements to choose from and more to come. Another important step for Cold Porcelain Art is that now a mobile version site is available. Yeah! Thanks so much to my hubby who built a great site, helping my customers access my shop from their phones and ipads. Since it went live just a couple of weeks ago the traffic has been a success! I knew that a mobile site is pretty much a must nowadays, what I did not know is that there are so many brides-to-be (and wedding planers :D) on the go.    

And the last one is that I am preparing for my next Bridal Show, so stay tuned for the event details…

Back from Vacation!

I’m back!  We went to Florida for a big family reunion and we stopped at Disney to say hi to Mickey…we had a blast!

We planned this trip since last December and everything went perfect! And how not? Florida has great places, attractions and beaches…all in one!

It was a nice deserved vacation! Lately I’ve being really busy with special orders and my last one shipped one day before going on vacation! One of my biggest orders was this colorful cake topper (picture below) took me almost two months between planning, designing and making it. The bride asked for a colorful arrangement of roses, her favorite flower.

The cake topper, an arrangement of pink, yellow and orange roses, decorated a 5 tier wedding cake. The Bride had a fresh flower bouquet with the same colors. I really enjoyed making these roses!
